David B. Lerberg, MD, FACS, FACC

David B. Lerberg received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University
in Baltimore, Maryland where he also completed two years of general surgical
training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following a research and teaching fellowship
in cardiovascular surgery, he completed his residency in general surgery and
cardiothoracic surgery and a research and teaching fellowship in cardiovascular
surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center Hospitals.
Dr. Lerberg is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American
College of Cardiology and The American College of Chest Physicians. He is also
a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of
Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Lerberg is a member
of many professional organizations including the Society of Thoracic Surgeons,
The Pennsylvania Association for Thoracic Surgery and the Pittsburgh Thoracic
Surgical Society. He currently serves as chief of the Division
of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
Dr. Lerberg has authored numerous papers in medical journals. His areas of
interest include valvular heart surgery including repair and replacement, repair
of congenital defects in adults, coronary artery disease and carotid artery
surgery.
